Adolescent Treatment
As you’ve probably noticed, braces are most often worn by teenagers and there’s a couple of good reasons for that:

First, this is the earliest age where all of the patient’s permanent teeth have completely erupted, making it easy for us to detect and treat any problems with the bite or the jaws.

Also, teens have fast metabolisms and growth spurts, which we can utilize to make the treatment much quicker and more efficient.

Finally, because of the two previous reasons, braces are popular amongst teenagers. That popularity is also a benefit – teens are less hesitant to get braces because a lot of their peers already have them.

Metal Braces
These are the standard form of orthodontic treatment and the one that most people think of when they hear the word “braces.” Metal braces have metal brackets that are cemented on the fronts of the patient’s teeth. A thin, metal archwire runs through all these brackets and helps move the teeth into their optimal positions. Metal braces offer a time-tested method that’s not only reliable, but affordable as well.
Invisalign Teen
While Invisalign was once a treatment that was only meant for adults, with the introduction of Invisalign Teen, teenagers can now receive the same great benefits of this advanced treatment. Instead of using brackets and wires to shift a patient’s teeth, Invisalign Teen uses clear, plastic aligners. These aligners aren’t only virtually invisible and allow for a discreet orthodontic treatment, but they’re also removable. You can take them out before eating, drinking, or cleaning your teeth – meaning that you don’t have to avoid any of your favorite foods and that oral hygiene is as simple as ever. The main difference between Invisalign Teen and standard Invisalign is that Invisalign Teen comes with compliance indicators to let you know if you’ve been wearing your aligners enough.
